Directly bordering the royal grounds of Qasr Al-Jurf, Jiwar Al Qasr is an urban development that reinterprets Emirati culture at the intersection of fisherman heritage and desert roots. The project’s name, “Jiwar Al Qasr,” meaning “vicinities of the palace,” reflects its spatial adjacency to the Qasr itself. Al Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan intermittently lived here as a retreat from city life, reconnecting with the sea and his roots as a fisherman and merchant. The masterplan clusters volumes around shaded courtyards, forming a porous, pedestrian-oriented fabric that balances enclosure with permeability while adaptively reusing the site to preserve legacy and respond sensitively to context.
